Together with many industry stakeholders, research institutes and governments ElaadNL is shaping the future of the Electrical Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. An open EV charging infrastructure with access for EV drivers and industry players will accelerate the adoption of Electric Vehicles, encourage innovation and reduce costs. To help shape this open EV charging market ElaadNL invests in projects related to open standards, roaming solutions and educates and promotes open markets at a national and international governmental level.
ElaadNL actively contributes to the development of open standards. Open standards or open protocols ensure that EV charging systems speak the same language. By providing rules and guidelines for data communication open standards unleash new market opportunities for thousands of businesses around the world.
For the adoption of electric vehicles in Europe EV drivers need to be able to charge at any charging station in any country. For this there are multiple roaming solutions available in Europe. Although these solutions vary to some extent, they all serve the same purpose of opening up the EV charging infrastructure to all EV drivers. Allowing roaming will increase business, accelerate EV adoption and improve customer experience. Additionally, in some European countries roaming is already mandatory, anticipating future European mandates.
ElaadNL actively contributes to roaming through its platform e-clearing.net, a platform with the purpose to exchange roaming authorisation, charge transaction and charge point information data.
